In late 2024, we took a bold step toward expanding opportunities for the children with the land next door to the Orphanage, which it had acquired but never had the volunteers to renovate. What we found was not usable space — but a dumping ground. Clearing it has required months of persistence, advocacy with the new municipality of Mulvenos, and countless volunteer hours spent removing trash by hand and finding safe ways to haul it away.
This work is not glamorous. It is hard. It is ongoing. But it is transforming what was once a burden into a blessing.
With the land finally cleared, hope has begun to take root.
This year we planted banana, mango, and lemon trees. We built trellises and watched passionfruit vines thrive. Garden beds now bring order and beauty to the space. Two agricultural experts have mentored the children, teaching them how to plant, cultivate, and care for the land — lessons in responsibility, sustainability, and dignity.
Yet the journey is far from over.
For the past six months, water shortages have threatened everything we’ve worked to grow. Keeping the gardens alive has been a daily challenge. To make this project sustainable for generations, we must install irrigation and develop a year-round growing plan that can withstand seasonal hardships.
This is where you come in.
Your financial support will help fund irrigation systems, water storage solutions, tools, and long-term agricultural planning. Your expertise — especially in agriculture, irrigation, or sustainable farming — could shape a solution that lasts for decades.
Together, we can turn reclaimed land into a thriving source of food, education, and hope.
Will you help us grow something that will nourish these children for a lifetime?
Safety & Security
Over the past year, the orphanage has undergone meaningful transformation.
A new dormitory and nursery were constructed — a major step forward in addressing severe overcrowding. But as anyone who has built knows, the structure itself is only the beginning. Walls must be painted. Rooms must be furnished. Beds, cribs, storage, linens — all the essentials that turn a building into a home.
Thanks to generous support, these spaces are now bright, welcoming, and organized. The children have moved from five crowded rooms to seven age-appropriate sleeping areas, with two additional bathrooms to improve hygiene and safety. What was once overcrowded and chaotic is becoming more structured and secure.
Donations have also made it possible to begin replacing uniforms. Each child requires a school uniform as well as an orphanage uniform. These are not just clothing items — they provide dignity, belonging, and an important layer of security, helping staff easily account for every child and identify when someone does not belong on the property.
But there is still important work ahead.
This year, we hope to install a protective fence around the football pitch to better control entry and exit points on the property. This fencing will also help keep children away from high-risk areas, including the garden pond during the rainy season — which presents a drowning hazard — and the trash-burning area, which poses serious safety risks.
We are also assessing the need for bed rails after several injuries this past year, and we remain committed to continuing the uniform replacement program until every child is properly equipped.
And for those who feel called to make an even greater impact: we are seeking sponsors to complete the top floor of the new dormitory. Finishing this space would provide additional relief from overcrowding and ensure safe housing for years to come.
Your donation directly improves safety.
Your sponsorship creates lasting stability.
Your involvement changes daily life for these children.
If you feel moved to help — whether through giving, volunteering, or sponsoring a major project — we invite you to step forward. Together, we can build not just buildings, but security, dignity, and hope.
Health & Sanitation
Water.
Every major challenge we faced seemed to begin — and end — with water.
Limited water has meant struggling gardens. It has meant restricted bathing. It has meant delayed laundry. It has meant compromised hygiene. And over time, it has contributed to a rise in preventable skin infections among the children because there simply wasn’t enough water to bathe regularly or wash bedding and clothing properly.
So this year, we set one clear goal: build a sustainable water well.
After months of effort, advocacy, and faith, we have finally seen water flowing. It is a breakthrough moment — one worth celebrating.
But it is only the beginning.
The water must now be tested, filtered, and safely piped to where it can serve the children best. Infrastructure must be installed to make it reliable and safe for daily use. With the right systems in place, this water well can transform every part of life at the orphanage.
Our goals for the coming year are clear:
- Provide safe, drinkable water for every child
- Install irrigation to sustain the growing gardens
- Expand laundry and cleaning capabilities
- Restore healthy hygiene standards and eliminate preventable skin disease
Clean water changes everything. It improves health. It protects dignity. It reduces medical costs. It supports food production. It allows children to thrive rather than simply survive.
And as we finalize a long-term water solution, we will begin addressing another critical need: improving waste management systems on the property to create a safer, cleaner environment overall.
This is a defining moment.
With your support, we can move from water access to water security. From temporary fixes to lasting infrastructure. From recurring health crises to sustained well-being.
If you’ve been looking for a project where your gift creates measurable, generational impact — this is it.Help us finish what we’ve started.
Help us turn flowing water into lasting change.
Education
Every child deserves the right to education — not just in a classroom, but in life.
Over the past year, we have taken meaningful steps to equip the children with knowledge that protects their dignity and strengthens their future. We introduced menstruation education so young women can face this stage of life informed, confident, and without shame. Access to understanding and proper care changes everything for a girl’s sense of self-worth and stability.
Each week, we also gather to sew with the children. What began as a simple activity has become something much more: a space for mentorship, discipline, creativity, and practical skill-building. Sewing is not just a craft — it is a marketable skill that can generate income and open doors to independence.
But this is only the beginning.
Looking ahead, we hope to expand vocational and life-skills training in partnership with Sister Domingas. Together, we want to identify additional programs that will equip both children and staff — whether through conflict resolution training, tutoring in foundational reading and math, or practical workforce skills that prepare them for adulthood.
And there is an even bigger dream taking shape.
We hope to establish merit-based scholarships for children who are nearing graduation from the orphanage — scholarships that would allow them to pursue vocational certifications or professional training that lead directly to employment opportunities. Instead of aging out with uncertainty, they would step forward with credentials, confidence, and a clear path to self-sufficiency.
This is how cycles are broken.
Your support can help:
- Expand vocational training programs
- Provide materials and instructors
- Strengthen literacy and numeracy foundations
- Launch a scholarship fund for graduating students
Education restores dignity. Skills create opportunity. Opportunity builds independence.
If you believe every child deserves more than survival — if you believe they deserve a future — we invite you to invest in that future.
Together, we can equip them not just to grow up… but to move forward.
Enrichment
Enrichment is the heartbeat of everything we do.
Beyond buildings, wells, and gardens, there is something every child needs just as deeply — attention, affection, and joy.
We show up to offer hugs and presence. To sit beside them and listen. To remind them they are seen. We craft together. We play music. We laugh with the babies. We share small treats that are just a little more than what they receive on an ordinary day. These moments may seem simple, but to a child who rarely receives one-on-one attention, they are everything.
Enrichment builds confidence.
It nurtures emotional health.
It tells a child: You matter.
And we would love for you to experience this for yourself.
Join us on a Tuesday and see firsthand why this work is so important. Come play. Come create. Come connect. You will leave changed — and so will they.
Looking ahead, we are working to organize regular weekend outings to give more people the opportunity to come connect with the children. And this summer, we hope to build a community-supported playground — a safe, dedicated space where children can run, imagine, explore, and simply be kids.
To make this possible, we need helping hands and generous hearts.
Whether you give your time, sponsor a playground element, donate supplies, or help fund enrichment activities, you are investing directly in childhood itself.
Because every child deserves more than safety and shelter.
They deserve laughter.
They deserve play.
They deserve to feel loved.
Will you come be part of that?
